Show notes: Thursdays on the Terrace performance. There was heavy improvisation on almost every song. During The Devil, the screen on the fireplace fell on BG and the band had to pause and then restarted midjam.

Show notes: UNC Thursdays on the Terrace series. The Same to Me was dedicated to the picture above the band on the wall. The Devil included a lengthy jam including a spacy section and a swing jam. Debut of Bob Dylan's "Quinn the Eskimo," which Frank subsequently forgot most of the words to and as a result had the band segue into Weekapaug Groove because "it's a Phish song that has only about three words because Phish isn't into that stuff."

Show Notes: Sturges & McGeehan set included debuts of Eddie Vedder's "Rise," The Grateful Dead's "Friend of the Devil," and Toto's "Africa." Friend of the Devil and Africa were performed on the banjo, and the latter was dedicated to a "certain a cappella group on campus." Hide Your Love Away was done at a fast tempo and dedicated to Andrew Ashley.

The Friday Afternoon Jam set included a debut of new original "Memory Serves More" and the first Set Afire in a year and a half. The Same to Me included a swing-jazz style outro jam. Weekapaug played due to crowd requests and included teases of Phish's Bathtub Gin and Mike's Song.

Show notes: First set at Order of the Bell Tower's "Ring in the Spring" event. Debuts of "Cuckoo's Nest" (traditional), "Small Town" (Pearl Jam), and "Smell of the Trail" (Dogs 'n' Gods) which was only the bridge section that was jammed. Small Town dedicated both times to Judy Mak. The first Watchtower and both Smell of the Trails featured teases of There Are No Laws in Asheville. Both Watchtowers included the final verse of Stairway to Heaven. The sets were in reverse order, creating a palindrome. In the second set, Cuckoo's nest was only one verse to save time and Watchtower was performed with Frank on banjo and harmonica and featured Charlie on vocals for Watchtower. Numerous teases between songs of "The Last Stop."

The Jack Sprat sets were part of the UNC Springfest Showcase. The Same to Me featured an alternate arrangement and lyrics from Keep On Rockin in the Free World and American Pie. Greets included a tease of "Dark Star" (The Grateful Dead) including the first couple of lines. Be done as a brief jam between songs. K Lock teased Journey. Cortez was dedicated to Logan Liles and featured Alex Groneman on acoustic guitar and vocals.

Show notes: Lineup was Frank, Grossman, and the debut of Brad Blakenmeyer on bass. Was a fundraiser show for an alternative spring break project. Debuts of two new originals in A New One, which is unfinished and had improvised lyrics, and Find the Groove, a reggae jam. Also debuts of Weekapaug Groove (Phish), My Favorite Things, and Sand (Trey Anastasio/Phish) which was only two verses done just by Frank over a jam. Teases were abundant, including teases of David Bowie (Phish) during Greets, My Favorite Things during A New One, Bathtub Gin (Phish) during Weekapaug, Yellow Ledbetter (Pearl Jam) during Cortez, and If I Only Had a Brain and Divided Sky (Phish) during Franklin's Tower. Show notes: This show occurred at 11.30 pm on the main stage at UNC's annual opening weekend celebration, Fall Fest. First time The Same to Me has been an opener, and it included the chorus of "A Long December" by the Counting Crows in the breakdown as well as the first "Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)" (Pink Floyd) outro. The lyrics to "A Long December" were modified to say "Carolina" instead of "California." Greets included brief David Bowie teases and almost died away to nothing before coming back in almost reprise fashion. Fortunate Son included alternate lyrics referencing SPROUT, a club at UNC that Frank is the co-president of. During the brief sound check Frank teased both "The Last Stop" by DMB and "Farewell (An Old Irish Blessing)" which he wrote during the summer with the band Dogs 'n Gods.

The fans wanted more and were banging on the stage, but TFAJ was forced to stop due to quiet hour violations. K Lock teased Ruff Ryders, Seansons of Love, and Don't Stop Believing. Last Stop and Halloween (DMB) teases by Frank in the Greets intro and then a brief David Bowie (Phish) tease during one chorus. The Same to Me included Keep On Rockin' in the Free World and Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay outros. Bittersweet Symphony dedicated to Mike Hurst who got the band the gig. Asheprise had a Bathtub Gin tease and a line of Rider sung over it before the segue.

Show notes: This was the first real gig for the Friday Afternoon Jam, as part of a Habitat for Humanity Alternative Spring Break fundraiser. Also appearing were Left on Cates and Caravan. All songs are public debuts except Asheville Reprise and The Same to Me. No Way and Morgan's Bluff are reworked versions of songs Frank wrote in high school for his band Chai. Covers include "Be" by Common, "Fortunate Son" by CCR, "Dick in a Box" from SNL, and "Weekapaug Groove" by Phish. The first 304B included teases of Phish’s “Bathtub Gin” and “Weekapaug Groove.” It also included teases of the Allman Brothers Band’s “Mountain Jam,” as did subsequent sections of the jam. “The Same to Me” included a chorus of “A Long December” by the Counting Crows. Due to requests by fans, there were teases of Dave Matthews Band’s “The Last Stop” and “JTR” before “On the Ground,” and “99 Problems” by Jay-Z after the song. Kevin’s introduction to “Be” included teases of the “Ruff Ryder’s Anthem.” Frank gave a shout-out to his friend Clayton, who’s birthday it was, at the beginning of 304B.

There Are No Laws in Asheville Reprise->The Same to Me

Show notes: First public performance of The Friday Afternoon Jam (not counting the E-haus show). Audition for UNC v. Dook battle of the bands. Both songs are obviously debuts. Asheville Reprise performed on electric guitar with harmonica. The Same to Me with Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay outro. Grossman was playing a set used by all other bands auditioning. Event organizers did not anticipate an audience, but the Jam brought around 20 fans out.
